I had a desperate need for muffins today..
Chocolate muffins to be precise. But in order for me to make muffins, I had to face the horrible dirty oven that was left for me by the previous tenant.
I have been putting it off till last. Using the stovetop and microwave for all my culinary needs this past week. Not engaging in any eye contact with the dirty beast at all.
Alas, the time has come. The call for Muffins was real and hard.
So I thought about the best possible way to tackle the situation. And in all my wisdom the best idea I could think of was to start off with a burn. Put all the elements on and once the grime is loose it should be easier to clean right?
So very very wrong.
It only took about 3 minutes for my plan of action to show me just how wrong. First thing I noticed was the plumes of smoke engulfing the kitchen, followed by a flicking flame inside the oven.
SHIT JUST GOT REAL!
I did what any warrior type woman would do… SCREAMED for the husband to rescue me from impending doom.
He rushes in expecting to slay dragons ……. ehem ……. instead found me in a cloud of smoke waving towards the offensive and now verymuchonfire oven. I swear I heard him chuckle as he closed the oven door and turned knobs and whatnot.
The details of his bravery are unimportant. What is important is that it looks like muffins have to wait.
He subdued the flames, vented the kitchen and sorted things out while I mumbled obscenities aimed at the previous tenant who was obviously a whoremongering dirty troll. Obviously.
Needless to say, cleaning the oven will need to be done differently and muffins will have to wait till my nerves have settled.
Have a great humpday all
