SCALEY..

a word I am finding a need for all too often lately!

Now before we continue down a tirade of anger and disgust lets explore the true meaning of scaley:

The dictionary defines it as an Adjective - having the body covered or partially covered with thin horny plates, as some fish and reptiles.

But that is not the variant of scaley we will be discussing today, instead we are going to explore the slang derivative of
Scaley – A sly person “Watch that f*cker ,I wouldn’t trust him, he is a scaley bollix”

Now I wish I was not able to say that I could talk about this horrible type person, but I can..

Enter DemanScales, Demanscales asks for a job to be done, job is determined by time factors which are guided by the final composition of materials handed over by Demanscales to me. With other words, the longer it take the idiot to get the stuff to me for the project, the longer the project takes, you with me so far?

Anyhoo, after much begging and pleading on my part the final materials get handed over by Demanscales and then the bullshit really starts. Before the final item had even arrived he was on the phone asking why the job wasnt finished. Threatening me with lawyers, then changing the project parameters to include items that were not originally agreed upon. Phoning staff members demanding changes, then demanding final product, then threatening some more.

The more I told him that he should please desist from harassing us and that we will send the final product in due course, the more aggressive he became, phoning me in the evening after 8pm and so on.

And all the while I have to remain objective, we need to complete this project and then we will be rid of the idiot.

Eventually the product is complete, I email the guy saying go look. He then responds that we were 15 min after his self imposed deadline therefore  he no longer wants the product and wants a full refund instead!

OI Vey!

I politely decline his request, the work is complete, over and above original specifications too. So I insist he pay the outstanding balance.

Then the legal battle ensues, he says he cannot use the product, it took too long and it is not what he wanted and he cannot use it. I will not give him a refund and demand he pay us the outstanding monies as the job is complete.

Eventually the court settled the matter for us, saying that Demanscales must move his old services (YAY!) from us and we must just help him with that and call it quits leaving us with a semi paid for product but rid of him.

You would think that was the end of it hey? Well no f*king way!

He then emails us insisting we give him the new product immediately as the court has also awarded that to him. I.KID.YOU.NOT!

I tell him to go check again because he is confused, whereby he sends his pathetic wife to the courtroom and she says that the court transcript does indicate that we hand over the new development aswell. And if we do not comply they will drag us through another hellish courtroom drama.

I am floored by this. So I ask them to please confirm for me that they are requesting the product that we developed that they refuse to pay for because they felt that it was unusable for them? And the answer was Yes.

So I go off  to the courts (again) to verify this directive that I have no knowledge of and discover that they lied to me (again). Nowhere on the document does it state that the new (unpaid) product must be handed over to them. In fact it states the opposite.

Where to from now? If I decline this maniac will drag me back to court and even though I will win, it will cost me money and time to defend. If I hand it over then he gets his own way BUT I will be rid of him!

So I put the product on a disc, attach a letter informing him that I am aware of his deception (attaching the court order) furthermore he is never to make contact with us on any platform for any reason in the future.

And now I hope that he disappears completely and doesn’t return with further demands of even more incredible levels.

I only hope that apart from never seeing DemanScales ever again is that the next person he encounters gives him the asswhipping he so desperately deserves.

I am truely saddened by the way I have been abused by this client. And feel that as a SME there is no real protection for me from scaley’s such as DemanScales.  And as a result the next client that comes along will be inundated with documentation and protocol so as to protect myself from future abuse.

Ultimately no one wins.

I am a patient sort though, and karma may be a slow wheel, but it does turn.. I can wait.

    Wowzers! What a guy! It’s so true that your next client will have to “pay” for his mistakes but you know what, you’ll be better off in the long run for putting the necessary measures in place. As for him, he will get his come-uppance…they always do!
