Crap story…
Found out an interesting little titbit regarding dutch culture this morning.. and to say it is a shit story is an understatement.
Did you know that they have a ‘shelf’ in crappers?? I am not entirely sure why they would want one but there has been mention of them wanting to inspect their evacuations or some such insanity before flushing it away.
I personally think it is weird and unhygienic and in fact I am one of those that close the lid before I can turn around and flush because I have no interest to see what my body rejects.
The traditional Dutch toilet is shaped in a way that the user’s wastes are collected in a risen, dry shelf or plateau in the back side of the vase.
All I can add to this is WTF!?!?!

Ooh, gross. Hubby says that in Austria its the same and if you try aim for the flush part – and miss the shelf – it blocks the toilet. Seriously, very gross indeed. But then again, the Romans used to do their business all together in the morning in long rooms and chat about what to plan for the day. Uh, seriously, doubly gross.

Yes, i’ve been to Holland… It is super disgusting. And when you stand and pee, the pee splashes up making a spray on your knees, and the wall next to the toilet.
