These numbers mean nothing to most people but to me..but  they denote the moment in my life when everything changed..

16 Years ago I went from being a 19 year old  carefree, irresponsible, wild child to a 19 year old scared, overwhelmed and nervous new mom.

I loved J the first moment I saw his squished up face when the nurse brought him to me..I cant explain why I loved him..it seems irrational to feel such overwhelming love for this little life that I have only just met, I just know I did.

Was I scared?!?!? You bet your sweet ass I was!

What if I get things wrong? What if I don’t wake up when he cries? What if I put his nappy on wrong? What if I don’t feed him enough? What if I feed him too much? What if I drop him? What if I lose him? What If I make him cry?

And today I sit here and think back on the past 16 years and have finally reached the answer to these question, “He will survive and he will still love me as much as I love him…”

As a mom we are actually guaranteed to get things wrong, it is almost like we are living a sitcom and our life is a parody of errors, but as long as we continue to try our best in the loving manner (which only mom’s can pull off), it will all turn out OK.

So my dear darling boy, Happy Day of Birth, Its been 16 years of fun, love and growth and I want to thank you for taking such good care of my heart which I gave to you all those years ago in that hospital room when the nurse brought you in…

You’re right saying “…in the loving manner (which only mom’s can pull off)”. I love my baby girl so much it aches, but I think we dads are a tad more selfish than the moms.

I wonder… Is there something we dads are better with?

Bridget – Have you noticed how old their ages make you feel? I would love to just say.. woah there cowboy.. slow the heck down ;-) LOL!

    Gilz – :-)

    Angel – Thank you :-)

Po – yes, sigh, if only I knew then what I know now.. I wouldve used my cuteness more effectively..LOL! (too late now)

Spear The Almighty – Thank you :-)

Hardspear – yes, in fact there is.. dads are helluva good at being the rock. Let me quantify this before misunderstanding ensues… ;-)
Us moms lose our heads and are far too emotional at times and dads are awesome at keeping their heads and are masters at guiding their kids (and the moms) through really tough times.. But if you are a single mom this task unfortunately fall on the single set of shoulders and *ehem* this can cause for many a hilarious moment between falling apart and being levelheaded … :-)

At first, the biggest challenge is not to kill them accidentally. Then you have to avoid doing it deliberately. You pass the test
