As a little girl I had a very unfortunate lisp only made worse by my stuttering… Yes, I was teased. Terribly. But I told them all to F@k off (well not quite that word..LOL) and got on with getting over it. I still stutter from time to time.. but most people are too polite to mock me. Not all, there are those that still laugh and mock, but the numbers have decreased over the years.

As a result I drowned myself in books as a little girl and at the age of 9  was reading books to the likes of 101 Dalmations (the english version taken from my afrikaans school library). The teachers would often disbelieve that I was actually reading the books until I stood in front of them and read out to them, lisp and stutter included.

My love for reading does not stop at fiction. I love History, Cookbooks and Comics. And to the amusement of my friends.. Manuals.

I am a manual reader.. If I buy a new Doohicky, I read the Manual before I switch it on.  There isn’t  anything I buy that I don’t first read the Manual. I love the instructions included and will often keep them in the original box and put the box away.. (just in case).

I enjoy the simplicity of reading and when I have to evaluate something important I need to read it first in order to completely understand it. My listening skills pale in comparison icon wink Sea Shell Shwim on the Shea Shore.. (See, my mom was right)..

    LOL @ the manuals! :lol:

    I love reading, but with 2 small kids, it’s all about finding time. I used to commute by train for 3 hours a day and this used to be my reading time. Now I live 5 minutes drive from the office…

    If there isn’t a manual, I try to write one. That’s much worse than what you do. But I like to read. A lot. At this very moment, you are my favorite author.

    Think I have to say I used to love reading, I like being left alone and undisturbed when I get into a good book and that cannot happen with children and husband so I read less and less (as a child and pre-family I would read every spare moment I had – and some not so spare ones).
    I dont have favourite authors but I only like fiction, there is nothing worse than trying to read non-*yawn*-fiction. So ya manuals are for when the husband cannot figure it out then i tell HIM read the manual :lol:

    Oh I am so a manual reader!
    I read mainly fiction, or a magazine! I don’t read a lot of non-fiction…
