Flowers in my hair..
I was reminded last night about my hair and how it has changed colour and style over the years.
I was never allowed to cut my hair as a little girl. My dad insisted that my sister and I have LOOOOONG hair in the back with the only concession being our fringe which my mom cut using sellotape to get a straight line..Yes, Sellotape. Gave me a really straight edge, don’t you know?

See how cute I was!
Aaargh! I hated it.. It was always tied in a plait as a result and when my brothers wanted to get my attention they would yank on my plait like it was a bloody doorbell or something.
When I was 12, this all changed. My dad left us and *one of the first things I did was cut my hair.. short. And it has varied in style and colour ever since.. very seldom have I allowed it to get past my shoulders in length with it mostly being short and styled. And most outrageous of colours I have ever put in my hair to date is Pink.. It was done in a short fluffy (meg ryan) style with Blonde and Pink interwoven. IT WAS STUNNING! (can you see it?)
But a few months ago I stopped cutting my hair, and am currently going through the awkward stages between short and long.
Growing my hair, isn’t easy though.. I am irritated constantly with it and find myself tying it up more often than not. But I am trying, reminding myself all the time that no one is going to walk around the corner and try pull my hair and reminding myself that I have come this far.. just a little further to go.
I do believe the time has come for me to let it all the issues go and grow the tresses..Who knows how it will effect the way I look and perhaps I may even like it in the end? And with long hair I can stick flowers in it and perhaps pull off the whole “namsy-pamsy-I-am-sweet-and-can-jump-and-skip-in-my-jean-pant-singing-songs” look?!?!
Although Mary Poppins had short hair.. hmmm.. Maybe it was the dress thing?!? Or perhaps it was her ability to sing and scold at the same time that did it for her? Hmmmmmm… Somehow I don’t see that working for me though, I will probably come off sounding like a off tune angry sailor strangling his parrot.
Ok, back to work for me.
Looking forward to the weekend and its almost here!

* coming out from under such a strict upbringing, I went a bit wild for awhile there..LOL!

Hey be glad she used that sellotape man…I once ended up with the not-fashionable-at-the-time asymmetrical fringe because my mom lost concentration during one of my home haircuts.
Now keep growing that hair! I wanna see photos of hair long enough to cover the breasteses and allow for naked riding through the town square. But you’ll have a better name than that Godiva chick.

My hair is quite long, but it’s pretty straight and easily manageable. When it doesn’t do what I want or needs a wash it will go up. I usally have to wash every second day.
long hair can be very beautiful. The awkward phase where not everything quite fits can be hell! Try to use clips to control the fly away hairs and keep them out of your face and into your style.
Good luck x

Davy – I will email you babes..MWAH!
I’ve had so many colours in my hair that at one stage I thought I should have become a hairdresser. I would’ve saved myself a small fortune!
Whenever things happen in my life the first sign of it is usually that I do something drastic with my hair.
MsBehavn’s last blog post..Public Service Announcement
I hate having my hair long – I have tried growing it but then it annoys me!
MsBehavn – I move furniture around.. kids come home and have to ask where I put their beds..
Laura – I am at that stage right now..
Look at you cute thing! Although the mental image of the dancing and singing in the jean pant many poppins is a bit unsettling:)
Thank god for a hair post.
Well, at least the picture is cute.
Mary Poppins had long hair up in a bun. You are thinking of Maria von Trapp.
But don’t worry, you’re still looking good. Better’n me, that’s for damn sure.

All I ever wanted as a little girl was long hair. I hated mine. I’ve never had long hair my own so I either wore it short or put in extensions. I recently cut it short for the first time ever (it usually just breaks) but now it’s growing out and it’s in that awkward phase you speak of, between short and long. And I still hate it.
I do love having long hair, but it can be annoying to maintain, especially during the winter when it becomes a pain to dry. The awkward stage between short and long is also very frustrating, haven’t had to go through it for a long time now, thinking of a change soon, best of luck.
