Deja Vu .. Again
It is always dark and cold. And for some reason normally peppered with rain. I have been to so many of these I have totally lost count. It’s an early start with lots of last minute preparations needed. Then of course we are always running out of time and racing to get there in time and the sparrow hasn’t even let out the obligatory fart for the morning yet..But thankfully to date we have not left home without the bogroll aka White Gold.

What am I talking about?
Here’s a hint, it involves spandex, helmets and the stock standard of guy jokes about their ride (bike) being lubed and always willing with lots of nudge-nudge, wink-wink…followed with grunting.
Yes, you guessed it. I am talking about Mountain Bike Riding. It is such an addictive sport it would seem. All shapes and sizes riding for their own reasons.. Health, Fun, Competition or just to be able to say that they rode the beast!
I watch them leave all smiles and jokes and promises of a GREAT TIME.. And watch them return, muddy, sweating and broken…But with a smile on their faces that tells a story of its own.
So much money spent on one day.. Must have the right gear.. with the right bike.. and no-no-no that no-name brand will just not do.. and we must not forget that all of them are now swopping their current nothingwrongwiththem tyres for the tubeless type.. and why? Because all the boys are getting them..
The girls are almost as bad with all the pink gear and sexy pants showing off their wares.. But I feel that the girls are abit more practical in their approach to the sport. And in being the casual observer that I am and not sexist biased or anything, I have seen the girls conquer hills effortlessly that most guys walk.
On that note I don’t think I will do any MTB in a hurry.. I am too much of a scaredycat of falling off.. it really is quite bizarre. There I am on my bike going ever sooooooooo slowly completely fearful that at the next turn I will see my ass without a mirror..
So I stick to going up and down the road like a pansy girl and leave the rough roads for the stronger braver sorts.. well for now anyway!
In the meantime I will be here.. at all the events.. cheering on the boyfriend.. braving the cold and wet from the comfort of the car/tent or whatever I can find armed with Chocochino’s and my laptop.

P.S. I just saw a Lovely Award i got for one of the tweets I sent to @ExMi while at this event..

I loved cycling, but never got into mountain biking, I’m also a woos! LOL! It must’ve been damn cold waiting for him this weekend.
Jeanette -It was cold and then some.. Was just mist everywhere for the first hour or so .. It must be love, eh?
There’s such a difference between road and mtb – roadies are all stuck up snobs (who wear lycra booties and matching spandex) while mtbers are a little more hardcore.
I ride both but have honestly had my worst wipeouts on the mtb!!
MsBehavn – I agree.. I must say I prefer the MTB’s ..
I just have to say I love the spandex! Couldn’t get past them!
