You want plastic?

I have at least 45 items on the conveyor belt, none of which will fit in my handbag easily and the cashier has a plastic packet poised in front of the scanner and asks ” You want plastic?”. I am always tempted to say to them.. “No, I want to watch you carry all this crap to my car, and here’s your sign!” . Firstly, Why ask? Do I look like I recycle? Did you see me lob a wad of grungy looking packets at the packer? Do I look like I work in a circus and can juggle 2l of milk. a loaf of bread and tampons? Secondly, Why the hell must I pay for a packet with your advertising on it? I understand the meaning behind making people pay for packaging to a degree to encourage recycling…I do, but… Why must I pay for packaging that...
